You can totally see the spiritual/emotional transformation in these women's before and afters. It's beautiful to see ladies so self-possessed and affirmed in their own natural loveliness.

I may be biased since I'm natural, but I think all of these women look more fabulous in their after pictures. LaDonna's hair is freaking gorgeous. I'd love to know how she achieved that style.

Also, agree with mysskay, this is a wonderful idea for frequent postings. There's something so strong and convincing about seeing the before and after together.

I agree this is a very wonderful post and I hope BGLH does this more.
Sometimes there is a misconception that only the very artsy, avante garde, bohemian, or brave go natural. It's nice to see a diverse group of lovely young woman who lost none of their style because they lost their straightened hair. This and the wedding series also show how "polished" natural hair can look without much fuss. Wedding dress, jean, with makeup, no makeup, doesn't matter- Napptural hair just looks so f****n cool.

Hey,
I just met you're blog :) I was looking at the Now and Then pics and I notice most of the girls don't braid they're hair. And I question myself if that just ain't much used in USA. I live in Portugal and here is frequent, when I think about singers in USA the only braided one that comes to my mind is Alicia Keys in beggining. It just isn't considered fashion, beautiful or even pratical among the americans?

Much Love
Natty

Yea Natty I don't think many women braid (cornrow) their hair in the US as a style. I think it is more fashionable amongst males to do this, not females.

@natty

braids are popular depending on where you live, time of year and your age bracket

Stunning pictures. The re-occuring theme I notice is that people with naturally coily, curly, tight hair look YEARS younger with their natural hair than they do with straight. Straight hair added about 5-10 years is just about every case. God knew what he was doing. All I can say is my natural hair tells me "welcome home" every day :)

Nice blog. Firstly I want to tell you that I also have a black hair, it looks beautiful. I think it depends on the person. Black hair suit some people and not others. I am like many other people tend to think that if this person will have bright red hair, but not always so.
